Man dies in double crash on motorway through West Yorkshire.
Police closed the northbound carriageway of the A1 through West Yorkshire until late on Wednesday afternoon, after a fatal accident.
A car and a lorry collided between junctions 45 and 46 just before 11am this morning, and then four cars collided at junction 43 shortly after.
One person was confirmed dead at the scene.
Police, fire and ambulance crews all attended the scene.
A spokesperson from West Yorkshire Police said at the time: "The northbound carriageway of the motorway has been closed at junction 44 and this is expected to be closed until after the rush hour this evening.
"Due to both collisions, motorists are being advised to avoid the area."
