One-Day Boycott Of West Yorkshire's Buses

Today's 'Better Bus Campaign' in protest at rise in fares.

A region-wide boycott on West Yorkshire's bus network is taking place today.

The 'Better Bus Campaign' is calling on commuters to make the protest, following an announcement last month that fares would be increasing by as much as seven per cent on two of our biggest operators.

First and Arriva both blamed the move on soaring fuel costs and said it had been 16 months since their last price change.

Campaigners want people to walk, cycle or car share in a mass demonstration to transport companies and the government.

They also say the fare that would have been paid, should, instead, be given to charity for the day.
