The 48 year old required hospital treatment following the assault in Golcar on Sunday
Police now want to speak to two witnesses who saw the assault on Beech Avenue.
The assault happened after a 48-year-old woman who was walking her dog was assaulted by another female dog walker following an incident involving their animals.
The woman was left with superficial injuries which required hospital treatment following the assault, which was stopped by the intervention of the two teenagers who saw what was happening and came over to assist.
PC Natalie Bailey of the Valleys NPT, who is investigating the assault, said: "This was a nasty incident and we would very much like to trace the two teenagers who saw what happened and intervened as we need to speak to them as witnesses.
